    Students are returning to school across Australia today. My two eldest boys, in high school start today, while my youngest daughter in Grade 5 returns tomorrow. We've planned a mummy-daughter day which includes canoeing on our dam (that is if the canoe has not sunk to the bottom of the dam) and making doughnuts!

    It puts forward evidence that due to hormones and development, TV, movies and social media (and a range of other factors) girls are transitioning from childhood earlier than the teen years, at around age 10.

But beyond these logistics for many kids going back to school can be a nerve wracking, particularly if this involves a new school or the transition to high school.
