Choose your ‘alone’ adventure: Top 5 school holiday activities to do on your own
It’s school holidays ... hooray! But for some of us school holidays can also be lonely, or even worse, boring! We’ve put together our Top 5 favourite activities to do on your own this school holidays.
1. Make something delicious in the kitchen
School holidays mean that rather than rushing through breakfast you can take the time to make your favourite breakfast food, whether that’s pancakes, bacon and poached eggs or fruit salad topped with yoghurt. You could also experiment with a new recipe ... what’s the worst that could happen, and there’s no one to judge? Don’t forget to clean up after!
2. Do something creative
You could start an art project, experiment with self drying clay (beads are easy to make, and grab some acrylic paint to make them colourful), or learn to knit (there are great online tutorials).
3. Experience the zen that comes from tidying up
Is your room messy or chaotic? Taking the time for a deep clean or to re-organise can help with stress and anxiety, and ensure that your room is a welcoming sanctuary from all the busy-ness of life and school.
4. Make a playlist
Make a playlist of your favourite tunes, or multiple playlists. One for exercise that gets your heart pumping, songs that make you happy, or songs that help you relax. Have a disco in your room!
5. Have a movie marathon day
Plan a movie marathon day, or binge watch a favourite TV series. I’m an 80’s girl so love rewatching films from that time like 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, (I’m a Molly Ringwald fan).
And there’s lots and lots of other things you can do, like: a digital detox, read a book, pamper yourself in a bubble bath, enjoy nature on a walk, play with the dog, learn something new ...
Alone time can be really positive and isn’t necessarily something to avoid.
Me time = self care time.
