The ‘Find Your Calm’ charm bracelet is a wearable self care checklist to remind you to make self care part of your every day.
Sizes: child (50mm, measuring across the wrist), adult (60mm, measuring across the wrist), adult large (70mm, measuring across the wrist).
Each charm represents a different self care practice: Bell - a reminder to get physical, whether that’s walking, yoga, swimming ... Shovel - don’t let negativity take over, you are more than the terrible stories you tell yourself about yourself, so whack bad thoughts on the head. @ - stay connected, talk it out with family or friends (or go online for support there’s lots of different websites) and look out for others, call or text someone who is struggling. Star - make sure you get enough sleep, adults need 7-9 hours and teens need 8-10 hours. Blue Cup - what is nicer than a lovely cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate … and it’s a great opportunity to take some time-out, practice mindfulness sit, focus your attention on one thing, breathe. Lighthouse - imagine you are a lighthouse, be strong, don’t let your worries overwhelm you. Remember you have survived 100% of life’s challenges up until now!
$1 from the sale of each bracelet is donated toReachOut Australiato support the good mental health of young people and those they turn to for help: parents and carers, and schools.
I recently had the privilege of sitting in a yarning circle at a NAIDOC event. The conversation steered to blame and personal responsibility and it reminded me how playing 'the blame game' can really set you back in life.
Like many people I hadn’t heard of self-care until relatively recently, I’d say the last 10 years. In 2005 I had a health crisis, and another one in 2006, as well as the usual life hurdles. Over the next seven years I got on with things and just as everything feel into place, I fell apart.
